Guarango Cine y Video is an independent, non-profit audiovisual organisation based in Lima, Peru. Founded in 1994 by documentary filmmaker Ernesto Cabellos and Swiss producer Stefan Kaspar, we have spent more than thirty years helping films—and the stories they tell—reach audiences around the world through production, post-production, restoration and preservation.
Guarango is more than a production company or film laboratory. It is a filmmakers’ studio, where creative practice, technical expertise and cultural commitment come together, guided by a simple conviction: cinema that connects people, cultures and generations.
From Peru to the World
Led by internationally award-winning filmmakers, Guarango helps filmmakers, cultural institutions and international organisations bring ambitious audiovisual projects to life—combining creative excellence, technical expertise and deep local knowledge to connect global audiences with the stories, people and landscapes of the Andes and the Amazon.
Facilities & Expertise
Our Lima studio provides professional post-production, colour grading, SDR/HDR workflows, DCP and IMF mastering, 4K HDR film scanning and digital restoration for cinemas, broadcasters, streaming platforms and audiovisual archives.
We also develop international co-productions and produce ethical speech and language datasets for AI and language technologies, specialising in authentic Quechua, Andean Spanish and Indigenous voices.
Mission-Driven Since 1994
Guarango sustains its socially engaged filmmaking, its audiovisual preservation work and its cultural mission through specialised production services. Every project we undertake—post-production, restoration, commissioned production or AI language work—strengthens our capacity to produce our own films and to safeguard Peru’s audiovisual and cultural heritage.
